Camino is the Spanish word for path and in Dutch translation it is pad. Pedestrians and cyclists use paths to go from 1 place to another. They can use also roads and streets, but these are mostly paved. Paths are more made of sand, stones or just created by the number of passers-by. Walking on paths will give you a better view of nature and surroundings

A lot of people might think of 1 thing when they hear “The Camino”. They think of the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela in the province of A Coruna in Galicia, Spain. According to a medieval legend, the remains of the apostle James were brought to Galicia for burial. Camino de Santiago is propably the most famous Christian pilgrimage, with each year more than 400.000 registered pilgrims arriving at the official Pilgrims Office in Santiago.
Christian pilgrims come from all over the world, by footh, bicycle, or other means of transportation. Their starting place might be their home-address, or at de beginning of a Camino route. The most famous is the Camino Frances with it’s most common and modern starting point: Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. This village lies on the French side of the Pyrenees. Your first day from Saint-Jean takes you direct into de mountains of the Pyrenees.
