We will hit it again, a good 27 km to the next stop is the schedule. You can read how many there will be later, if you have not read my day message, it remains a surprise. Like every morning, we pack everything again, have a small breakfast in the cafe of the alberge and then go out again. On the outskirts of Hontanas you can see a beautiful mural with how many kilometers we have ahead of us until SdC.
The path or the road, give it a name, goes over the side of a hill where there is still a ruin of a tower. Again you see the walkers in front of and behind you and it is striking again that almost everyone takes the pictures in the same places, only a few deviate by not taking pictures, or taking them from a completely different angle.
Our road then follows a road that leads us to Castrojeriz, but slightly more than half our road, which is actually a road, passes under the arches of an arch that connected a monastery with the church. This road is actually part of the age-old pilgrimage. The name of the monastery, which is now a ruin, is San Anton. It must have been 2 impressive buildings by the ruins. The weather is good so far, a bit of sun and especially dry.
After the ruins the road goes to Castrojeriz, a road with trees on both sides. You can see the village well with its monastery (s) and churches. It used to be an important place with a lot of prestige and especially pilgrim hospitals, now there are fewer. It is a beautiful sight from afar, but on the left side light clouds appear to rise from a valley. And as I approach the place, more clouds rise from the left and the light color changes to a dark gray. As if very heavy rain clouds are formed that draw water directly from a lake. It looks a bit ominous.
After leaving the place we walk for about half an hour on a flat road and then a nice climb awaits us, seen from afar, when the weather was fine. Those clouds now cover a nice view of the road that takes us to a mesata at over 900 meters. Sorrie, we have to walk the road ourselves, there is no bus or escalator to take us up. Over a distance of 1000 meters, we bridge an increase of 100 meters, so an increase percentage of 10%. Due to the weather the climb feels very oppressive (!?!). And you cannot see very beautiful vistas. Once upstairs there is a van where you can get some refreshments. The owner has a nice loyal friend walking around. What a pity that Jake could not come along.

After a few hundred meters a short descent of 18% to a mesata follows. This mesata is also photographed countless times a year. Even in the Jacobs staff of the 3rd quarter in 2018, one was printed. In good weather you have a view of the table mountains, now you have to look very carefully if you want to see them, but as you get closer they get a better view. At the end of the path there is a San Nicolas chapel / alberge, before you cross the river.
Today I cross 3 mesatas and the weather is slowly getting better, the sun shows itself again. Just after noon I come through the place where the overnight stay is planned, but staying seems not a good choice. Here I also meet Domenique who wants to spend the night in this place. But everyone from our club goes on to Fromista, so… .. These extra kilometers cut into him.
It is a small village with few options. The next place is about 6 kilometers away and is called Fromista. According to Rother, it is an hour and a half walk, of which a large part along a canal (Canal de Castilla). It is progressing again, as almost always, energetically.
Before I walk into Fromista, you walk across the weir of the canal, a nice and separate weir, you could still generate nice white electricity here. Continue to Fromista and look for an alberge. It was found fairly quickly. That means registering again, choosing the bed and installing it. Just have a drink to bring the moisture level up and take time to prepare blog and vlog. The numbers of acquaintances are gradually increasing. In the afternoon the weather goes downhill again and dinner was like the new kitchen: large plates with little content.
The alberge is good, the wifi is bad, you can not have everything right for a small amount. We do not complain, it is part of the pilgrimage. Going to bed on time, we don’t have much to do tonight and resting is always good.
